MUNI Community Vocabulary Ontology
The MUNI Ontology is a general purpose, open-source and open-collaboration vocabulary and ontology for city, municipal, and local community purposes. The MUNI Ontology is being developed specifically to support this Citizen DAN community and data appliance, though it may be applied to any local community context.
The MUNI Ontology is a modified version of the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) from the United Kingdom, for which many thanks are offered. MUNI has modified this vocabulary to include North American concepts, to internationalize spellings, and to remove UK-specific considerations. MUNI has also been extended in the specific areas of community indicator systems (CISs). As a community-supported initiative, we anticipate MUNI to continue to diverge from IPSV over time. However, links are also maintained to the IPSV identifiers.
MUNI is to be publicly released by the end of Summer 2010. However, an early version of the vocabulary may be inspected here, as well as its full-size graph.
MUNI is presently being finalized for its first release. Please contact us if you desire early access to the vocabulary.
